FAITH HAS LEVELS

“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” Matthew 14:28-31 NIV

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: Yesterday, we saw that there is faith that stands on the word of God from deep within the spirit of man producing results. There is also ‘faith’ that takes its root from the reasoning of man leading to doubt and produces failure. This is what Jesus calls little faith. Word of God subjected to human reasoning.

By human reasoning, man cannot walk on water he will sink. But Peter heard Jesus and had faith that made him step out of the boat keeping his eyes on Jesus. Then he shifted his gaze away from Jesus to the storm, then human reasoning came in and he began to sink. Living by human reasoning produces weak faith that breeds doubt. Doubt results in fear and failure. We shall consider another level of faith God willing.

Dear Lord and Saviour, help me to keep my gaze on You when You give me instructions. Never let my reasoning overwrite Your word I the name of Jesus.
