TALKING HEALTH AND DIET

📖

“So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take away sickness from among you.”

Exodus 23:25 BSB

🤔

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: When we were young, we ate anything that was produced in our locality. We did not discriminate between carbohydrates or talk about the keto diet or any diet at all. People ate what their bodies accepted. Both adults and young ones ate the same things. At this age, however, even babies’ diets are monitored, and food has become a major issue in health talks. This prompted me to want to see what God says about health and food in the Bible.

🤔

I am led to start, not from Genesis, but from our text today. It gives me the first clear link between food and health. It also gives me a clear indication of how sickness leaves my body. Let us go.

🤔

The first instruction is, YOU SHALL SERVE THE LORD YOUR GOD.

What does serving the Lord your God mean? In the Old Testament, there were other gods, depending on the different tribes of people and even households in a nation. However, Israel had only ONE God, the Creator of heaven and earth. He gave them laws, statutes, and commandments to live by, as well as His way of being worshipped. That is how to serve God. OBEY HIM.

🤔

If they lived by His commandments and statutes, He, God, would bless their bread and water and take sickness out of their midst. This promise still stands today. What we should be studying is how to serve God rather than focusing our energy and finances on diet and the study of disease.

🤔

A friend of mine was told by doctors, after they had tried their best, that they could only care for the friend; it is God who heals. Diseases are more prevalent now than when I was young and growing up because we do not serve God anymore. We shout His name and make a lot of noise about Him, but we do not study how to serve and worship Him.

Jesus said in Matthew 7:21–23 that it is not those who call Him Lord, but those who do the will of His Father, who shall enter the kingdom of God. It is by doing the will of God that we serve Him.

How much of His will do you know now? How much of the will of God that you know do you do?

Tomorrow, we shall see how to serve God so we can get Him to take disease from our midst.

🛐

Dear God and Healer, teach me how to walk with You so that You will take disease out of my midst, in the name of Jesus.
