Like I said yesterday, to adopt reading through the Bible yearly is a ‘knowing’ that I have which I cannot fully explain but I know that it is beneficial so the believer does not short change himself in his walk with God. The whole Bible is written for our example so that we might have hope and patience and encouragement in life. People of other religions not only read through their scriptures regularly, they memorise the whole of it and get tested before they are fully initiated as members. This is why they are rugged in their faith.

One basic advantage which I have discovered through experience and scriptures is that there are things which are inevitable that we refuse to acknowledge and keep in view as believers because we fail to read through the bible and miss the way to handle them when they happen. The enemy that Christians fear most is death. We are also the most devastated when we lose people dear to us. I appreciated  from having read the whole bible several times that death is the way of all flesh and that our times are in the hands of God and not anybody, any disease or any situation at all. This ‘knowing’ has comforted and supported me when I was bereaved. I was saddened but I was not devastated as I know that they are in heaven with Christ where there is only peace, joy, comfort and love. This is important these days when diseases, death and wars are being announced and people live in fear all over the world.

Reading through the bible yearly regularly makes the whole Bible settle in you even when you don't realize it and it guides your affections. When you are struggling to acquire and accumulate wealth by all means, the value of such acquisition is lifted in your soul to caution you about the worthlessness of the endeavour. From within, the scriptures you have inside you will show you what you need and lead you to have it with contentment. Tomorrow, we shall look more into the benefits of regular yearly reading through the bible.
