TWO KINDS OF RICHES.

August 14. Psalms ch 40-43; Romans 8:21-39

Listen, my beloved brethren: Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him? But you have dishonored the poor man. Do not the rich oppress you and drag you into the courts? James 2:5-6 NKJV

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: There are two types of riches. The first one that we are all familiar with is the riches of this world. 1 Timothy 6:18. The second is riches in faith mentioned in our text above. The man who has the riches of the world commands authority and respect. He can buy anything his eyes desire and many people want to be his friend.

The poor man in the wealth of the world is however not recognized even after saving a city by his wisdom. Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city. Yet no one remembered that same poor man. Ecclesiastes 9:15 NKJV

The poor man however is not honored even in the congregation of the people of God. The poor man is hated even by his own neighbor, But the rich has many friends. Proverbs 14:20 NKJV The poor man cannot purchase what he desires with money but if rich in faith, he can have more than he wants.

The poor man has to learn how to be rich in faith. He is to keep his gaze on God who will meet his needs. The unfortunate thing however is that the poor man keeps struggling to make money rather than labour to grow his faith. Faith has purchasing power just like money. Faith is spiritual currency while money is natural. Faith is enduring while money is very temporary and uncertain. Tomorrow, we shall look at which is a better pursuit between faith and money.
