The Rain And The Storm

THE RAIN AND THE STORM
📖
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because its foundation was on the rock.” Matthew 7:24–25 BSB
🤔
HAPPY DAY TO YOU: Some years back, there was a flood that destroyed lots of properties, including those belonging to good people who believed in Christ and lived out their faith. I have been asked several times why bad things happen to good people, and I have wondered about it for years too. A minister of God wrote a big book on the topic, and I read it long ago, but it did not answer my questions very well. While writing this series on KNOW GOD, the answer came to me.
🤔
Natural things on earth happen to both good and bad people. When the rain falls, it does not segregate the farms of the wicked from those of the good. When there was a pandemic, it affected both good and bad people. Being a Christian does not exempt one from the troubles of this fallen world. The difference, though, is that the Christian's security is in trusting God, whether in good times or bad. Even at the point of death, he still believes in Jesus.
A Christian who obeys Christ from the heart has tasted the Lord and seen that He is good (Psalm 34:8). He can say like Job, “But I know that my Redeemer lives, and in the end He will stand upon the earth. Even after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God. I will see Him for myself; my eyes will behold Him, and not as a stranger. How my heart yearns within me!” Job 19:25–27 BSB.
The Christian's security is not in the absence of storms but in the God he trusts through them. He continues to trust in the living God despite all that happens. The fallen world will affect all who live in it until they are called home, but whatever the impact, the Christian's faith in God remains.
🤔
How deep is your faith in Christ? Can you still say He is Lord even when things contrary to the promises of God happen in your life? Will you look for other support or deny God because life does not go according to the promises you hear every day and confess? Check and see if God is still your God and Father, whether on the mountain or in the valley.
🛐
Dear Lord and Father, thank You for Your word that addresses every issue in life. Lead me in the way of Your word, in season and out of season, in Jesus' name.
