SOURCE OF JOY

“I have told you these things so that My joy may be in you and your joy may be complete.” John 15:11 BSB

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: A young man was sick and close to death. He was cool and calm as his relations and friends came to visit him. One of the mother's friends asked if they could consult a herbalist for him to take portions that could cure him. He calmly said ‘I’ll rather face death than lose my salvation. I have the joy of salvation’. The woman was shocked. He passed on with a smile on his face and relaxed.

Where is the home of joy? Jesus gave the understanding of joy in our Scripture for meditation today. He said He had spoken to them words that would put His joy in them that their joy  may be complete. The source of the joy of God is His word.

Joy is a deep, supernatural sense of peace and satisfaction given by the Holy Spirit that does not depend on outward life events. Unlike happiness, which changes when your situation changes, biblical joy remains steady even during hard times. 

The way to nurture joy is to consume the word of God rather than the word of the things of the world. Listen to prophet Jeremiah. He said “Your words were found, and I ate them. Your words became my joy and my heart’s delight. For I bear Your name, O Lord God of Hosts.” Jeremiah 15:16 BSB

To grow and nurture joy, you have to be taking in the world of God. Joy may not manifest in laughter as happiness does but it is a quiet assurance at all times that things are well no matter how they present themselves on the outside. Decide to pursue joy and not just happiness. By that, even if Satan destroyed the outward things like it did to Job, your joy will still be intact in Jesus.

Thank you Jesus for your word that never changes. Teach me to hide your word as anchor for my soul in the name of Jesus.
